Bagamat isang Bulakenyo, si Baltazar ay nakahugot ng inspirasyon sa Bataan upang sumulat ng mga pinakamahuhusay na literatura.
Taong 1849 ng simulan niyang gamitin ang apelyidong Baltazar, matapos na ipag-utos ni Gob. Hen. Narciso Claveria sa mga Pilipino na gumamit ng apelyidong Español o Tagalog mula sa isang listahan.
Sa ikalawang pagkakataon ay nakulong si Baltazar nang akusahan siya ng paggupit ng buhok ng kaniyang kasambahay. Ipinagbili ni Baltazar ang kanilang lupain at nagbayad ng malaking halaga upang makalaya. Dahil dito, naghirap ang kanyang pamilya. Ipinagpatuloy niya ang pagsusulat ng mga awitin at moro-moro hanggang sa kanyang kamatayan noong 20 Pebrero 1862 sa edad na 74. Ipinagbilin niya sa kanyang mga apo na iwasang maging makata’t manunulat upang hindi sila maghirap.
Isa rin itong dahilang kung bakit sikat ang pinoy pagdating sa mga tula dahil na din sa ama ng Balagtasan na si Francisco Baltazar. Kaya hinhingkayat ko ang mga Pinoy na magbalik tanaw tayo sa mga umukit ng kasaysayan dito Pilipinas.
Ang tanyag na batang Pinoy na manlalaro ng ahedres o chess na si Wesley So ay muli na namang sumabak sa si
a sa mga prestihiyosong palaro.Siya ay sikat na na-qualify na pumasok at maging isa sa mga kalahok ng Corus Chess ngayong taon na kung saan marami sa mga popular na chess grandmasters ang kasalipagkatapos na siya ay magpakitang galing noong kasagkasagan ng Wordl Cup Chess 2009. Ang nabanbangit na chess tournament ay nagsimula noon ika-15 ng Enero at magtatapos sa ika-31 ng nasabing buwan.
Ginaganap ang taunang chess tournament na ito sa bansang Wijk aan Ze, Netherlands at may tatlong iba-ibang kategorya. So ay naglalaro ngayon sa category-B at maaring umusog sa category-A sa susunod na taon kung sakaling makuha niya ang unang puwesto sa nasabing palaro. Ang nasabing ulat ay mula sa Balita Ngayon
